Hi all

For those who are Coronation St watchers I have just read that Claire (Ashleys wife) is going to get a DVT followed by a PE! If only we all had that sort of warning!

Anyway it says the middle of July so will be interesting to see how true to life they make it! Bet she will be better quick though.

" I know nothing about that TV show but yes it will probably be open and shut within an hour. Such is the fare provided by TV producers, as is required to serve the TV freak's attention span.

Nonetheless we will take anything that may raise one little iota of awareness of this under-reported scourge. "

" More2be,
Even though I don't normally watch it, Coronation Street is a very popular soap here in the UK. By the very nature of soaps there are cliff hangers and things can drag on for a while. Funnily enough they also provide a little education for the masses and tend to beam out support numbers for more information on topics they cover at the end of the show.
I am going to have to find out when this is on as however this is showcased will have a little effect on how my case is viewed by the people around me ;-)

Kate, thanks for finding out more details. If you find out any timings, can you post them on here?

Thanks,
Pippalippa "

" Thanks for replies

Yeah it will either be dealt with in one episode or as you say be highly dramatic and go on for weeks! Dont always watch it but there have been some issues they have dealt with quite well in the past.

Sure the article said something like 15th or 17th july but if I find out for sure will let you know.

Hope it does give a bit of publicity and not just written off as a piece of TV drama!

" Martha on Home and Away had one about 9 months ago, and she was off to the city shopping less than a week later! That really annoyed me!

Hope good old Corrie does a better job!

I lived in UK for a few years - is Fred the butcher still in it? "

" Ok, I've read the spoilers up to the 24th of July. It looks like Claire was pregnant without knowing it. She threw a clot which killed the unborn baby and then developed into PE. She collapsed and was rushed to hospital. There her husband is told she needs an operation (due to the miscarriage? they didn't say). Claire wakes up and tells her husband that she doesn't want any more children and that she wants him to have a vasectomy. This starts a whole other story (including a scene with her on top of the roof of the hospital - no less dramatic - and him promising to go ahead with the op). There the story seems to split as people spread the news and he goes for his (ch)op. I hope they don't abandon the poor woman as she and her PE deserve a little more attention. But somehow I can't imagine waiting for hours at the warfarin clinic to find out the latest INR making good dramatic television watching... OR? "

" ha ha Pippa

Yeah my friend said the same thing re warfarin clinic. Bet she wont wake up with nasty blood over pillows every morning or HUGE attractive bruises all over arms and legs!

Jenni Fred the butcher died 'I say he Died' lol but it his son Ashleys wife Claire who is heading for a clot!

Will let you you know how it goes!
