Hi there! I suffered my PE on Aug. 1st. A couple of weeks before I think I started showing symptoms of DVT in my right leg (it got very sore) but never really knew what it was because I also have varicous veins on that leg as well so I thought it was just that . Then my shoulder started to really hurt then it went down my back and continued with a stabbing pain when I took a deep breath. I am (was) a swimmer and I figured that maybe I pulled my trapezoid so I went to a couple of physio sessions!!!! Well it didn't help and the stabbing paid got so bad that it just hurt to breath and my pulse was high and I couldn't find any comfortable position, so my husband took me to the ER. After bloodwork and an X-Ray they said it was either Pneumonia or PE. So they gave me an ejection of Fragmin and told me to come back in the morning for a Nuclear Scan which confirmed my worst fear.
I am taking coumadin now and my last IRM was 1.9 which the Doctor was happy with. It took a bit of adjustment of the medication, but its fine for now. Until the next blood test!!!!
I am not a smoker or drinker and I am physically fit and I am not on the pill. I still can't believe that this has happened to me and I say to myself what did I do wrong?
I worry all the time when I feel a bit of pain in my back or shoulder that wasn't there the day before or when my leg is sore around where my varicous veins are. The Doctor said that those veins are superficial and have nothing to do with it. I think I am driving my family crazy cause this is all I think of. My husband is very supportive, but I think he is getting tired of my worrying and wonders when the old me will come back. I can't even concentrate on things like I used to, I was always so sharp and quick. I feel so out of sorts:o(
Is it normal to have all these feelings and to be so nervous?

" I must say after reading all these posts that I am so glad I'm not alone with these feelings of anxiety and panic. I had a PE back in Jan 2009 and just finally joined this support group. My family has been wonderfully supportive throughout my ordeal but they haven't been through a PE (not that I would want them to) and they sometimes find it hard to understand my anxiety. So it's really very nice to be able to connect with others on this topic. When it happened to me, I didnt have any pain, just a bit short of breath and a pressure on the right side of my chest (the clot was on my left side though) and my heart was racing. Even after 9 months after the incident, I am still afraid of a reoccurence.Hope it all works out for you! "
