Well, about 4weeks after my surgery, I am returning to work. I go back to my full time job 6days a week on Sunday and my part time job 3days a week the following week. I am only scared because I am still getting headaches every day. They are shorter and less intense as before my shunt, but they are still there. I hope working won't make it worse.
Wish me luck guys! [= Posted on 11/06/09, 03:11 pm |

I understand, I also get headaches but they are shorter, my theory is the pressure has to build up for the shunt to open and the headache I get inspires me the shunt is working just a theory Dont over do it, but u will do great

Thank you for your well wishes! [=
I'm sure I will be fine too...I've just been feeling paranoid and anxious for a while now. I am excited to get back into work though, and interact with the public again [although I probably won't be saying that in a few weeks of dealing with them around the holidays! [= ] Nee

Nee,
On a possitive thougtht, when I was working I always found it much easier to deal with my headaches as I kept very busy and believe it or not I sometimes just forgot about them. Good luck. I am jealous. I am looking forward to going back to work. Good luck. I am sure you will be fine. Also if your headaches continue you might want to talk to your ns about an adjustment. They don't always get them right hte first time around. TJ

Thanks TJ.
I see my NS for my 6week follow up on the 20th. She's 4hours away from me and they still aren't letting my drive (Grrr!!!) so it's hard to get there to see her. But I did see my neurologist and she said I am doing well. How does the adjustment work? Are they gonna tap me at my 6week follow up? Thanks,. Nee

Not sure what hardware you have inside you but mine is a very simple procedure. My NS just puts this magnetic dial device over the shunt and turns it to another setting. There are like 6 to chose from and I am now in the middle so I have roon either way.

You'll do great Nee! It is daunting to go back to work after having gone through so much. It has been 4 months since my shunt and my pressure keeps slowly going down and my papilla edema getting better. I prob. said this before but my NO told me that it can take awhile for the pressure effects of chronic IH go down.
I'm also returning to work, but nothing like your schedule, you are amazing!
