is awful already! I have the tingling in my hand and feet. Just in my right hand. I feel half-dead. I have no energy but still can't sleep. I am super thirsty and slept like 15 hours. My mouth tastes awful. How long does this last?? Does it go away or is this going to be constant?

If I don't have papilledema, do I have to be on it? I don't know which feeling is worse!

" Hi Ashley - I too had the symptoms your describing on diamox. For me the symptoms did lesson over time. I actually went off the diamox because it didn't help my headaches any and like you I don't have papilledema. I'm starting a new medication Zonegram to see if that helps my headaches any.
Good luck to you! "

" Hold strong Ashley. It wont always be so horrible. You do get more used to it until it becomes part of your day. A tip? lemonade tastes good! Try and drink as much water as your body tells you to. A suger free gum is a help with the bad taste in your mouth.Again, I use a lemon flavor. Give your body a chance to get used to this new drug. Relax and think of the good it will do for you. This is from me, someone who has been taking it for 18mths. Best wishes to you, Cath278. "

" Angeline-
Hopefully I'll be like you and won't have to be on it, but I just started having eye pain in the last two days, so I'm thinking maybe it's progressing.

Cath-
Thanks for the advice. I bought some lemondrops actually and have been sucking on them periodically. It helps with the taste and the constant drymouth. My fiancee is at the store right now buying me some Gatorade because I have a concern about my blood sodium, but I'll continue to take the Diamox and address that concern with my neurologist on Monday. I just hope this extreme weak/tired feeling surpasses soon! "

" I did the same as Cath! I was always sooo thirsty, and I got sick of drinking just plain water, so I mixed in crystal light and it is yummy! I can't remember if it is Diamox or Topamax, but one of them makes carbonated drinks taste really gross too, so I go through a lot of crystal light. lol The tingling, I still get every day...I haven't found much relief from that other than getting up and walked around.

Good luck!! I really hope your body starts to readjust and gets used to the medicine.

Nee "

" It gets better! I think for a lot of people the tinglies are mostly gone in 3 months. I even started drinking soda again within 6 months.

Hang in there!

" Well I'm glad to hear that it should wear off. I guess now I just wait, and sleep. Only my sleep has been like a twilight sleep. I have slept a lot today, but I've been kinda awake the whole time. If I hear my man talking on the phone or my dogs making noise, I hear it and say something to them. It's annoying, lol "

" jmmommy, did you have any symptoms when your potassium dropped too low?

I'm actually kind of worried about my sodium because I was looking at my chem 7 results from when I was hospitalized a few days ago, and my sodium level was just a little bit low even after 2 days of being on IV fluids. "

" So, another question about Diamox. Can it cause you to feel like you're having like vibrations or muscle spasms in your leg? Also, can it cause cloudy urine? "
