I was just curious to know how many of you take Diamox and what dosage. Also what has been your opening pressures?
I take 500mg now of Diamox was up to 2000 at one point. Make sure they are monitoring your CO2 levels. You could end up with metabolic acidosis...not fun! My opening pressures have been 36,27,35,32,22 Those are the ones I can remember anyway. What strange symptoms do you get? Do you ever feel dizzy? Posted on 01/13/09, 10:01 am |

I am taking 1500 and my opening pressures have all been between 25-30 so far but each one has been higher. I started with 250 and worked up to 1500. My CO2 level is a little out of wack but my neuro says it is ok. He also says we can't go higher with the Diamox because of this. Mostly it messes with my digestive system and all the normal stuff like tingling and weird taste of some things. I haven't really noticed anything too strange. I am taking a lot of different pain killers too so I might be blaming them for other symptoms.

I am not on Diamox at the moment...Currently am taking Topamax. The highest I've gone on Diamox is 1500mg and I started having fainting spells on that high dose which is when my neuro-optho thought perhaps I needed a break from Diamox and put me on the Topamax.
I may try the Diamox again in the future at a lower dose if needed, but as of yet my doc hasn't made up his mind.

Diamox: 1,000 mg.
Topamax: never heard of it (anyway if it's to help with the headaches, I don't have them anymore) Opening Pressures: 360, which I think is the equivalent of 36 of your meassures. Symptoms: Blurred vision (all the time, very uncomfortable), no-headaches, some side-effects fromo the Diamox such as tiredness, hands & feet numbness, nothing you cannot learn to live with it.
