I can't find any discussions ever posted on DS about the Cribriform plate. I noticed that many of you indicated you have CSF leaks through the nose, and down throat, even some through the ears. My doctor wants to check me for a crack or failure of the Cribriform plate, I have put this off for so long now, my friend had this issue after her husband beat the living hell out of her, realize it can never be fixed to be considered cured but they can patch it. Me and Hollie discussed this tonight, as we are very worried about another member.
Remember my doctors are not pointing to primary IIH, but secondary. As I told Hollie the test if I am not mistaken is a 3 day LP, and MRI's injecting dyes into the spine and those big long cotton up the nose to catch the dye to show evidence of the cracked Cribriform plate.

I think this is something I will have to talk to my neurologist about also...the leaking down my throat comes and goes...when the pressure is high is when I notice it. This must be part ofwhy the Urgent Care doctor said that people with IH should be put on antibiotics right away if an ear or sinus infection is suspected

The vaccine only protects against meningoccocal bacteria, not from meningitis caused by other bacteria or from viruses. So still keep an eye on yourself.
I had white cells in the fluid from one of my LPs. My neuro thinks it was probably from a chronic sinus infection. I have no idea how an infection travels from the sinuses into the brain, but it did. I'm not aware of any leak of any kind.

And they are sure that its not just the IIh causing the problem? As in,that we all have hearing problems, but they are not permanent or "real" if you like.
But if there is some kind of damage done, it could account for your balance problems.
After I attended a Physiotherapist, a few weeks ago, he decided that, there was not much any one could do a long as my pressure remained high.
And this past week I have been really bad,and very glad I have got use to the walking stick as I think I would have been on my face a few times!
