I have been feverishly reading anything and everything I can get my hands on about Psoriasis as it now has such a hold on my everyday life. I am just curious, does anyone else out there think that this disease has a tendency to attack overweight people more? I am overweight and many articles that I have researched very often mention weight as a factor. If anyone can weight in on this (no pun intended :) I would appreciate hearing anyone elses thoughts and opinions. Thank you in advance. I sincerely hope everyone out there is having a good day..

I don't think that it affects more people that are overweight.
My brother has it although un-diagnosed...he has no family doctor. My family doctor finally has admitted that I have it but it took a long time an an awesome dermatologist who I no longer have but loved. Stress I think plays a bigger factor in this but then again I have had it when I was both stressed out and at other times when the stress was relatively low. I just wish it would go away...kwim? Hopes this helps a little bit. It can affect anyone I think. I don't know if there is a "genetic" component but I often wonder if it does run in families...does anyone know if genetics plays a part? Hope you find what you are looking for. It's not your fault you have this or something you are doing or not doing. hang in there! :)

no , i would say there is no connection to weight as i am seen as underweight, and always have been. just my build.
my psoriasis crept up on me over the last few years. but with me i have worked out that it is probably an intolerence to certain food and drink..its always worth looking at. they say the skin is like the second lung so i guess the body tries to eliminate through this way. . try to cut out things that you might think make it worse..sometimes it gets worse before it gets better....stick with it. also stress does play a part in this skin problem..so i have tried to look at parts of my life that need sorting out. supplements are really helpful aswell but you have to keep taking them for a while until you get results, but same again stick with it. be strong and good luck... try and find a proffessional that understands as not all doctors do, i refused to go down the steriod treatment route. neils yard has some very good creams.

I have had major fluctuations in weight during the 16 years I have had psoriasis. I have never had one day of remission since I broke out. Stress seems to be the largest contributing factor to the severity of the outbreaks . Weight seems to be a side effect of the depression that is caused by psoriasis being a major in my life.
