your symptoms of prostatitis?

Hello, I'm new here.
My name is James, and having experienced frequency of urination/backpain my doctors (note the plural) are finally running out of ideas. I've done, so far, an urinalysis, a CT, a renal ultrasound and all came back normal.
A diagnosis of prostatitis is made but I'm reluctant to believe it because my pain is not bilateral. So, here's a question:
In your experience, is the back pain usually unilateral or bilateral? Have you ever heard of prostatitis with unilateral pain?

(btw where I live, doctor shortage is such that I have to wait for around a month or so before I can see a urologist so information is helpful)
