I have had recurring "prostatitis" problems for the past 8 months or so. It definitely waxes and wanes and I have been followed by a urologist and even had a cystoscopy that revealed no problems. As far as I am aware all of my urine cultures (done after DRE) have always been clean. Two weeks ago I developed severe pain in the urethra and prostate area to the point that it was throbbing. Urologist said that was classic prostaitis and prescribed levaquin for three weeks. I completed two weeks of the leavaquin but had to discontinue because the side effects were becoming unbearable (shortness or breath, anxiety, insomnia, and pain in my shoulder). I am afraid that this will come back now because I could not complete the treatment. I know that my urologist wanted me to try to finish all three weeks and I really did try. The problem is that I am allergic to other antibiotics so this is a not a good situation.
I did read the Headache in the Pelvis book about the Stanford Protocol and believe it makes sense. I think that perhaps my problems are stress related but it is hard to find a urologist who knows about this theory. Posted on 07/27/09, 01:07 pm |

You can always try the unconventional treatment also known as "experimental." It has cured some guys & made others feel better. When you deal w/ it so long, some feel like they have nothing to lose. Depending on which doc you pick out of the handful of docs that do this- some are pretty inexpensive for the chance of being cured!
