Hi. My grandad has prostate cancer and over the last couple of months his PSA has jumped 2 points so they have scanned his bones. He gets the results on Tuesday but I would really like to know the prognosis if this is the case as I want to be prepared. I know it is subjective but any info would be appreciated as I cant seem to find any answers online.
His PSA level is 14 I think and he will be undergoing radiation treatment as he ahs heart problems and they cannot remove the prostate. Thank you. Posted on 01/10/09, 11:01 am |

No one can tell you his prognosis. It depends on a number of factors. What is his Gleason, it tells the advancement of the cancer. Is the cancer confined to the prostate or is it advanced? With proper diet and life style he could live a long time. I have advanced prostate cancer and its been almost four years and I am getting healthier with my alternative holistic treatment. I wrote a book about it called "Advanced Prostate cancer and me". Its about my expierences and my holistic approach. When I was diagnosed my PSA was 23.5 and a Gleason of 7. All 12 cores of the biopsy were cancerous up to 75 percent. I hope this gives you hope.

THAT IS WONDERFUL, MY HUSBAND HAD RAD, THEN A YR LATER FOUND OUT IT HAD GONE THROUGH PROSTATE WALL AND IHAS METASTIZED, HE IS IN STAGE 4. BUT WE ARE ON A PROGRAM AMD HE IS DOING VERY WELL SOO FAR. I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU

Just to update my last post, I continue to be doing well with my holistic approach. I will be updating my web site www.alternativeprostatecancer.com this week with new research about D3 and walnuts, both have cancer fighting properties. Even though my cancer is no where to be seen, I spend hours a day researching in order to help others.

Was just diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer and had the bone scan and MRI and it has metastized on 2 places on my spine and 2 ribs. At this point Gleason has nothing to do with it. My doctor wants to put me on hormone treatment, which is inevitable, but then wait till the hormonhe resistant cancer cells take over and the PSA starts to climb again. I want a more aggressive approach, but I'm too far away from John Hopkins and have asked for an appointment at Mayo. Good luck to you all. Tom

you are smart to look for something else, in time the hormone treatment will become ineffective, its androgen resistent cancer. According to web MD there is no cure for advanced prostate cancer, going holistic is an option. Diet and supplements is what I use to combat my advanced prostate cancer, it has helped many people.
