  • Update to Tumor & Memory

    Thursday, October 9, 2008 | A Breaking News story

I now have a surgery date of 11/4/08 to have this removed.  Since it's 8 mm and my Prolactin is 57 - the surgeon feels it's warranted.  There are two schools of thoughts on the micro sized tumors - one used to be wait until it grows until you remove, but then you risk not getting it all which is more successful with the small tumors.
However, the surgeon feels certain this tumor ...

    Wednesday, November 19, 2008 | A Breaking News story

Ok - so I have a 6mm x 4.5mm microadenoma on my pituitary gland.  Who knew that such a little thing can wreak so much havoc in your body?  My doctor is starting me on bromocriptin to see if I can tolerate it.  She doesn't want me to be "a hero" if I can't so it is good to know that there are other drugs available.  I am a little scared about feeling sick, but...

  • I'm normal!!

    Tuesday, December 16, 2008 | A Breaking News story

I am so ecstatic right now.  I just got a call from my doctor's office, and found out the results of my blood test last week: I'm in the normal range at 11.6!!! I NEVER imagined it would come down from 118 so quickly.  I just started taking it a month ago, and had already noticed some changes.  My skin and hair hasn't been so dry, I've had more energy, no hot ...

  • 3 months later...PCOS

    Wednesday, December 17, 2008 | A Breaking News story

Good news - prolactinoma seems to be under control.  Bad news - it's PCOS now.
BUT we have a plan and that is good.  So we are waiting the results of a few more blood tests and I'm going in for a HSG tomorrow, but I will start on some new meds this week and go from there.
We are hoping to get my cycle started again and then just wait and see.

  • that special time of the month is back!

    Tuesday, January 27, 2009 | A Breaking News story

Well it finally happened....last week, I officially had a "period" for the first time in 6 months.  I couldn't believe it happened so fast.  I have to get used to this all over again, but it's a good feeling.  For once, I was happy to have cramps because it meant that everything is working  again. Now, I'm just going to continue on the same dosage of .25m...

  • In the right direction...

    Wednesday, March 4, 2009 | A Breaking News story

So after all of the drama of trying to get my blood drawn, and my RE not getting back to me with results, I finally got some good news!  My prolactin level has gone from 60 to 15!  The Bromo is working and while I don't like the fatigue and occasional dizziness, I am glad to see it!  No period yet, but RE said that could take some time.  If after some months, it doesn'...

  • More good news!

    Thursday, March 5, 2009 | A Breaking News story

I love it when good news just keeps coming!  After 2 1/2 years of no period (without drug intervention) I finally got it!  I never in a million years would have thought I would be so happy to see my "old friend."  Ironically enough, it comes just a day before our church's annual marriage enrichment retreat.  You kind have to laugh - even my poor hubby said, "...

  • Pituitary Chat Forum

    Wednesday, April 15, 2009 | A Breaking News story

    Hi Guys,
I have been working on a chat forum for people that are affected by pituitary conditions.  This came about as a response to the recent cruel closure of The Pituitary Foundation's Forum.  It has been up and running for just over a week and despite this, over 60 people have already joined.
The messages of support and thanks I have received apart from being unexpected, were trul...

  • Good news at Endrocronologist appointment today..

    Tuesday, June 9, 2009 | A Breaking News story

IGF-1 is 36 (normal range is 12-47); Growth hormone is 5.4 (normal range 0-15); and Prolactin levels is 40 (normal range 85-500). The best news is that the tumour has shrunk. I was diagnosed in Nov 2006 with a macroadenoma measuring 20.6x18.3x17.6mm. It now measures 11x13x16mm. The only bad news is I am still glucose intolerant. Diabetes is also in my family so need to lose the weight, part...
