Hi Everyone,
I wanted to ask if anyone has a Thyroid problem connected to the prolactinoma, I have a under active thyroid problem as well as a macro Prolctinoma, and would like to know if anyone else has the same condition. Regards Linda Posted on 10/29/09, 07:10 pm |

HI, i have a micro adenoma and an underactive thyroid (not enough to treat yet) but the research and my doc said it is very common for those with prolactinomas to eventually go hypo!

Hi guys, you have to understand, the endocrine system controls all of the glands.. some pitutiary patients do have other endocrine gland issues as well. Keep your endo up-to-date with how you are feeling.. most endos will do a full blood test at least once a year to check on other issues that may be lerking.
Take care

I have a 5MM prolactinoma. After getting my prolactin levels normal, I still had a ton of symptoms... which were very similiar to hypothyroid.
My thyroid levels were low but still in normal range and they kept going down (I had several years of blood work showing a downward trend). I found a DR that would try hypothyroid treatment to treat the symptoms. Seems to be mixed schools. Traditional endos won't treat (and don't recommend treating) until levels go below normal. Same with my primary care. He thought it was foolish and would rather prescribe very strong antidepressants!!! I've been doing thyoid treatment for 10 months. At first I started off with Armour thyroid (and tried different doses) and my levels really weren't coming up. I felt a bit better, but not great. A month ago they added levothyroxineI (more traditional treatment) and I'm starting to feel feel human again!!! Even more of the symptoms have gotten better. I don't feel 100% back to normal, but way better. My next blood work is early December so it will be interesting to see where the thyroid levels are. I just want my life back!! It's really difficult trying to figure this out. No dedication on the DR's part!! Just me pushing, and some days I feel foolish. At least I'm feeling better... I hope it lasts!

I also have problems with my Thyroid. Low but levels in the normal range. Tsh 3,5-5,5 and so on.
I should fight for thyroid medication. I'm now on Euthrox, and my Thyroid levels are en the normal area, with TSH below 0,5. I'm still not feeling well, and my doctor prescribed antidepressants -but I'm now trying to quit them because of the side effects. I have also tried Liothyroine T3, but I couldn't cope with the meds, felt really strange in my head right after having taken it... Gitte

Get an endocrinologist... don't risk your health with a GP.

Hi Everyone,
Thank you all for your replies. What I can't understand is I lost weight, went to the doc's, gave me blood test, and revealed I had a under-active thyroid, now I thought you put weight on with an under-active thyroid, do you thing the diagnosis is correct, I have no faith in my doctor at all. Linda

does anyone have problems describing how they feel, when I say I don't feel well, my husband will ask, how do I feel, and it is so hard to explain, when you feel so awful tired and and like you are on another planet, is it the drugs that make you feel that way or the tumor??
