Just wondering if anyone has found that either prior to learning they have a prolactinoma or post treatment (operation) if they now suffer with depression?

" You bet'cha...learning about any form of medical issue that is abnormal, beyond a hangnail, can cause a depressed state.
The way I compensated for any negative feellings was doing research, finding out how I could combat or take on my demons.
We deal with life in different ways, becuase we are different as human beings. I think it is important to remember that we have make our on paths and decide how we want to follow them. It is best not to pity oneself, but learn how our difficulties can be better understood.
Best of luck to you and may your future be filled with better understanding of your condition and your follow-through. "

" I don't know if there is a specific link, but it would be a good question to ask your doctor. I've battled with depression before, but I always assumed it was due to some other issues, but you there is so much we don't understand about the body, that it would not surprise me to find out there is a link. " I was always such a care free fun loving person.I was never depressed until my father passed away.(I knew about the pit tumor before he passed away.)I think dealing with his death plus the prolactinoma makes my depression worse. "

" I have a pituitary tumor the size of a walnut and I also suffer from deep depressive cycles at times. I have always believed there was a link.
I am at a loss right now. Very frustrated with not finding answers to and endless list of questions. Glad I found this group today. I have learned much here. "

" Thanks for the postings and the discussion. I have a prolactinoma and have been having episodal dipression. I had strong thoughts of suicide. And when my boyfriend suggested that it might have to do with prolactinoma I denied it because I don't remember either of my two endocrinologists telling me about depression. However when I read these posts I remember them just asking me if I was nervous or depressed at times. And their questions were so in the passing that I didn't think I was. Now I am really thinking that it does have to do with the prolactinoma as my depression cycles are getting worse.... Reading this makes a difference because I can understand it better by knowing that other women are also experiencing it...
Thanks,
Love to all,
Aetti "
