Provera/Medroxyprogesterone

Hi Everyone,

I was just prescribed medroxyprogesterone, which I believe is the same thing as provera, since I haven't gotten my menstrual cycle back yet since diagnosed with pituitary adenoma. (It's been a little over 6 months) Has anyone else taken this? What have your results been? Specifically how long after you finished the 10 pills did it work? My gyno says that if it doesn't produce a bleed I don't have enough estrogen and she wants to put me on BC for a few months which I really want to avoid. WOuld love to hear others experiences with this. Thanks!

" Does BC stand for bromocryptine? I've been on it for over a year, and its not that bad. The side effects were irritating at first (nausia and nasal congestion), but eventually they went away almost completely. I took an antihistamine at the same time which took care of the congestion, and made sure I took the pill right before bed so that I would be asleep by the time the nausia started. Based on my experience, I wouldn't worry about it too much. "

" No, I actually meant Birth Control. I've been on Bromocriptine for almost 5 months now and I am trying to get the green light to conceive. I already was told I could by the nuerology team, but now I just need a menstrual cycle before being able to TTC "

" I too had this problem, I took provera twice before I responded. AF always shows for me about 2-3 days after my last pill. Turned out that I have PCOS also and AF doesn't show on it's own for me at all. That is something that you may want to be checked for if you keep having problems. GL! "
