i was diagnosed with a prolactinoma 7 years ago.I was taking parladol for 4 years and prolactin levels retuned to normal.I have been off meds for 3 years now but my last visit to endo my levels had risen to over 2000,as i was still getting a period he did not put me back on meds,my problem is i am so tired all the time,my memory is terrible i am only 38 yrs old but feel like an old woman. My endo checked my thyroid but levels are normal,he said there is no connection with tiredness and prolactinoma, but after reading discussions on this site it seems many people feel the same as me,I feel like im going crazy nobody understands this horrible tiredness and there doesnt seem to be any help avaible.

" My doctor just prescribed me to take Bromocriptine, but I think he may have given me wrong information after what I have read on this site (and others). He told me to take half of a pill (I think that means .25 mg) two times a week. He also said that this pill has more mild side effects than Cabergoline. After researching this for the past hour, it seems that what he told me if for Cabergoline and not Bromocriptine. If and when I take Bromocriptine, how much is normal to take? Are side effects better or worse compared to Cabergoline? "

" Wonderful doctors - they list on most sites Fatigue and Depression as part of pituitary dysfunction.

Be side they do not have this how can they rule out anything we are going through as not part of this. We know are body's!

I am lucky I have a really good Endo. She really listen and seems to want to learn from what I am going through.

The other thing if you go to the hypothyroidism site on Daily Strength the ladies say that each person is different on levels of thyroid some feel better in the mid range and other need to high rage ect..

One more you may want to contact "miclachepelle" (she is one of our members)she had to fight her doctor on that she did have thyroid problem. Any way she is now and medication and feeling much better. "

" I have a microprolactinoma 5mm in size and am on 0.5mg cabergoline thrice weekly. My prolactin level is now below 20 from 300. Ever since I started the medication I wake up feeling extremely exhausted. I lost about 20 lbs, i am getting my second MRI sometime this month after a year on cabergoline, i hope everything turns out right.
My breast discharge stopped after 3 months on the med. "

" Oh man that is such crap! Thats like when they told me lactating and high prolactin levels were just depression. I know how you feel though. I've been so tired i just stay in bed most of the day for years now. In my opinion? It's time for a new doctor. Even if you do have periods, it's not normal nor is it healthy to have prolactin levels that high. There is no reason any of us should have to feel so bad all the time. Did you ask to be put back on the meds and were told no? "

" Yes I was both tired and gained alot of weight before I found out I had a prolactinoma. Interesting that your periods are regular, mine are too now, and my levels have been low since having my son 4 years ago, I have been med free for 4 years, but am having some of those old symptoms of fatigue and weight gain, think I am off to get my levels checked. " Just wanted to check in. I'm still taking 1/2 Cabergoline once a week and my prolactin levels have been normal. Next check is in October. I also had low but normal thyroid and have been treated for that with Armour. I just had another thyroid check and my level is still low so they increased the Armour Thyroid. They also found low vit D and low progesterone.

So it's a matter of finding the right combination I guess. I am feeling so much better, and stopped gaining weight. I still go through spurts of being so exhausted after a full nights sleep. So I'm just plugging away.

I haven't seen any studies yet that link pituitary dysfunction to exhaustion... I wish there was one!!! "
