Advice:
Having bad side effects from Bromociptine

So I took the new meds Bromociptine last night for the first time. This morning I woke up with the worse headache and a very neausious feeling. I have been feeling sleepy, lazy, and sick to my stomach ever since. This medicine apparently is the only medicine hey perscribe to treate Prolactinoma. From what I am reading on the web, it's the same medication used to treat patients with Parcenson's desease. I am also suppose to start Metaphormine in a month. The Dr. wanted me to give my body a month to get use to Bromocriptine before starting Metaphormine. So far I am feeling terrible and hoping that I will feel better at some point. Not sure how long tis feeling will last. Is this something I am eventually going to get use to?

" Can I ask why you people are taking Bromocriptine? It is a very old drug with well-known side-effects that make one very sick. Dostinex is a far more modern drug with less side effects. Could you please ask your endos why they are prescribing this very old drug?? I'm so confused. My endo waited until the new medication Doxtinex/Cabergoline came along before he treated me!!

I'm confused... "

" Paula, I haven't really had any bad side effects. My endo indicated that there were different types of medicine that he could put me on, but since I would like to have another baby,he wanted me to start out with this one because it had been on the market the longest and it was well known that it does not cause any type of birth defects. He did say that if I could not tolerate it then we would switch. But so far I feel great, much better than before. "

" Bromocriptine is most often prescribed when women are trying to conceive as it has been proven safe when stopped as soon as a woman finds out she is pregnant. I actually took Dostinex as well at one time and had a bad experience - my wbc dropped. I think it is a choice that needs to be made on a case by case basis.

I have been taking bromo for 4 months now and my levels are normal. I take 2 pills twice a day and have few side effects - the worst is that I am very congested at times. "

" I was told to take the medication right before bed. So if there were any side effects I'd sleep through it. I've had no problems doing it this way. "
