Just curious to know what prescriptions you all abuse/have abused. I never thought I had a problem, but when I list the presciptions I have abused, it's quite evident I have a problem.

Ambien
Xanax
Ritalin (and many meds just like Ritalin)
Percocet

I'd go through a month's prescription of all of these within a week...everytime. Guess I'm lucky I am still alive. I came clean to my doctor, so these meds are no longer prescribed to me.

What meds have you all abused?

" I used to abuse anything & everything I could get my hands on. ~ Mostly Percocet, Vicodin, Lorcet, Xanax & Ambien. I stopped taking meds 4 years agoby tapering off. I now have chronic severe pain due mostly to diabetes & some amputations. I am prescribed Oxycontin, Vicodin & Flexeril for the pain & Ativan for anxiety By the grace of God, I have not abused them at all & have been on them for more than a year. I take them EXACTLY as prescribed. I DO NOT want the hell of going thru withdrawal again! I think one thing that keeps me from abusing them now is that I truly need these meds for the pain & they help immensely. If I take them all w/in a week, I won't have anything to help the pain until I can get more. I can't even imagine how I would feel if that happened & I don't want to! It's hard some days but I've never given in to the urge ~ thank God!!!! "

" Msbook ~ it is not easy! I struggle with this daily. I know I am one extra pill away from abusing them again. I just keep reminding myself of the horrendous pain I went through when I was going through withdrawal & I NEVER want to feel like that again. It takes a lot of willpower. People have always told me I have a lot of willpower because I lost 137 lbs by sheer determination & a lot of willpower! LOL I just try to take it day by day! I hope this was a little bit of help to you!!!!! Take care! Kathy "

" I've abused almost every narcotic prescribed to me and like everyone else, I have chronic pain so I do need the pills but always run out before my refill date. I've abused vicodin, percocet, xanax, ambien, morphine patches, etc. You name it, I've done it. It's gotten to the point where 1 pill doesn't do anything so I would have to take 3 or 4 at a time. I'm trying now to take them as prescribed but every once in a while I slip. Good luck! "

" Methadone, norco, ativan, ambien, even Lyrica. I have a lot of pain but that is no excuse. Or is it? I don't know. I have emotional pain and physical pain. Sometimes I think it's not fair. But I am being a baby. I see people being strong and not being addicted all the time. Why can't I be that way? Yes, being a baby. I need to be stronger. You guys are wonderful and really help. I need to be there for you too! "

" i have also used & abused anything & everything I could get my hands on. Xanax, Clonazopam, Ambien, Adderall (+ other amphetamines), Oxycontin, Vicodin, Methadone, Morphine....those were probably the major ones. OC became a huge problem in my life last summer or a little prior to that. & right now it's mainly Ambien & Clonazopam. Then when I add all the non-prescription drugs i've done, the street drugs, the list gets ridiculously long (I actually made one back in the day), & to think I also never thought I had a problem....I only still abuse Ambien & Clonazopam because those are the only ones i'm actually prescribed to or have ever been prescribed to. " I have abused oxycodone, percocet, vicodin and xanax............The hardest one and the strongest addiction I had was to the oxycodone...Never was prescribed it and abused it for 4 hellish yrs...That nightmare ended almost 11 months ago even though sometimes it is still a struggle. "
