Hey Everyone,
I have been on clonazepam (Klonopin) for almost 2 years to tackle my anxiety. Also I was taking it on an as needed basis whenever I felt more anxious. Lately I have been more anxious than usual and I would take an extra milligram of clonazepam to feel better. However the other day I caught myself craving for an extra milligram and I got really scared. I stopped taking it as an as needed basis. I am worried that I have started a dependency on clonazepam. I am really worried and I don't know what to do. Is this a start to an addiction that I will never be able to overcome? The other day I didn't even have a beer at a restaurant in case I have started an addiction and having a beer will commute this addiction. Thanks for your advice. Posted on 10/12/09, 04:10 pm |

Klonopin is addictive. Talk to your doctor about your cravings. He will understand, I am sure. Tell him of your fears and anxieties and see what he says.
Please, always take only what is prescribed. If they do not work any longer, then tell your doctor. He may increase the dose or put you on something different. but, let him decide what to do next. Doctors hate when we self medicate and we really need them on our side in order to get the kind of help we need. God Bless and TC

HI there-
I was on Klonapin for over 10 years. At first I took it as directed but then I took more than was prescribed. It was prescribed for insomnia and anxiety-- and it's only supposed to be for SHORT TERM USE. There are a lot of doctors who don't know this. Mine didn't! And they don't understand what it does to the brain as far as causing permanent damage. It's taken me almost a year to taper down off of it. Benzos are extremely difficult to stop taking. Check out this DS group... http://www.dailystrength.org/group... There is a lot of helpful information about Klonapin and other Benzodiazapines. As well as links to other internet sites. Hey- feel free to send me a message anytime! Take care!
