Hi. I have been addicted to pain meds off and on for along time. I just couldnt say no. Well I finally started taking Suboxone. So far it works, but one thing I am scared to death of it! The reason being I also take valium 5mgs 2x a day with it, and antipressant also. I am bipolar and have anxiety and need to take them more mental health. I keep reading that a benzo is dangerous to take with subs but I talked to my psychiatrist about it and said it would be just fine{he prescribed them to me}. I still feel concdered and think of things like how anna nichole smith died and im afraid to sleep sometimes. My DR said im on a low dose so it would be ok. I only take 8mg a day. Need to hear if anyone else is taking antidepressants and valium with suboxone, Help!

i took xanax plus a mood stabilizer and an anti-psychotic with suboxone and had no ill effects. i didnt have a prescription for the xanax or suboxone but my doc knew i was taking them and all she said was that it could be harmful if you are taking large amounts of both of them. if your doc knows and you feel ok i wouldnt worry about it too much. you arent on a high dose of suboxone or valium so i dont think it would be a problem. hope this helps!

Hi Mell,
I agree with Amyb. No need to worry unless you were taking much larger amts of both sub and a benzo. I take Effexor & Lamictal for bi polar, 20-30mg of valium per day for panic disorder and 16mg of suboxone every day for opiate replacement. Sometimes I also take Trazadone if I have trouble sleeping. I have had no adverse affects. If your doc is ok with it, you should be fine. Don't be afraid to sleep, you need sleep! Take care, Zengal

Thank you so much you guys have made me feel so much better. I only take 8mg of sub so no i dont take large amounts of any of them, i take them exactly as they are prescribed all of my meds so I guess I should stop worrying. Thank you so much.

you are on a small dose of both, so you should be fine, and i wish the best of luck to you:) iam so glad that suboxone is the norm these days instead of the methadone i used before suboxone was FDA approved. i know of atleast 3 people who died of methadone/benzo overdoses, and i overdosed 3 times off high doses of both. good luck.

yes I have also heard of deaths due to Methadone and didnt want to go near it! This suboxone has been a life saver I cant believe it.My husband is very supportive too so that really helps. I am really glad I found this group it has helped also. Thank you for the encourament everyone here are a bunch of sweeties!

i am taking suboxone and i am also on prozac and clonazepam. i hear your concern because i felt the same way. (i dont get prescribed suboxone) so i googled for days trying to find out how harmful it was to mix. i take 6mg of clonazepam a day. i think if you are using it iv than that is where the concern comes in. as long as you are taking it as prescribed i wouldnt worry!!!!
