I am new to the support group. Just need to be able to converse with those who understand what I am going through. What started out as dealing and helping with my chronic headaches has turned into an addiction and an out of control spiral. I am currently on a schedule to wean off of the oxy's....but so scared that the pain will return and become unbearable. I need support to stay strong and persevere.

" Are you weaning under a doctor's supervision and do you both have a plan in place in case the headaches come back?

If I were in your shoes, when I got down to my last oxy, I would load up on ibprofen. 800 miligrams = 4 pills = the prescription dose and then I would wean down off that.

My doctor tried weaning me but couldn't do it. I was addicted and had to go to detox.

Good Luck! "

" Brand new to all this so I'm just getting my feet wet, so to speak. The weaning schedule my doc put me on has me taking the oxys around the clock. I hate that part because I have insomnia anyways...so once I wake up, I'm up for the night. Any advice is much appreciated! "

" The insomnia is something your doctor should know about. I'd give him a call right now.

Outside of that I cant really help you but as long as you are weaning, under a dr's care, you should be fine.

I was never able to wean and had to go to detox. I was addicted very bad. Anyone that knew me back then and knows me now, is amazed at the transformation!

It's all good! "

" You might want to look in to Suboxone(sp). it helps with detox, curbs cravings and has some pain management qualities. it is NOT a forever drug. The thing to understand is that one should never detox from meds on their own. Detox and withdrawal (2 separate things) from Oxi is dangerous. As with Xanax and alcohol complications can occur such as seizure and even death. Close monitoring by a doctor is of the utmost importance. "
