How to make new friends that don't do drugs.

All my friends I have now do drugs. Of course that's how I met them. I need to make new friends to help me through this time. I don't go to church, I don't believe in all that stuff so that is out of the question. Does anyone have any good advice as to where to meet people in their late 20's early 30's? I don't want to kick one bad habit (pill popping) for another bad habit (drinking). I'm really shy and people seem to think I'm stuck up rather than shy.

Hey firechic-
I've been clean now for a little over 6 months. All I can tell ya is go to an AA or NA meeting. I go to AA even though I'm a recovering pillhead. I think AA is more structured- at least around here. I met great people and got a sponsor who has the same addictions as me. You'll meet new people and they won't be high or drunk! It's a hard road but if you want it-- I know you can do it! I couldn't say it any better then veg. NA or AA is a great place to make clean sober friends who will give you the shirt off their back if you need it.
When I look at you firechic, I see someone who is in alot of emotional pain and crying for help and if I were there I would personally take you to the nearest 12 step meeting of AA or NA. It's a long road that's not easy for the first few months but if you ask for help, you will receive help. They have something to share with you and it's called a new purpose in life. God Bless and TC
