HELP! Oxy to Diladed - ok or bad?

I just wrote a 'how to stop cravings' advice question and forget the second part of my advice need.
So to recap; I beat an oxycodone addicition and still have cravings. Lately they're really bad. I was on the oxy for pain, and since I'm off the meds, the pain is back - BAD. The doctors want to put me on diladed, but as bad as I was the pain gone, and as bad as I want to faux euphoria I got from over taking the oxy back, I'm terrified of loosing myself again. Does anyone know much about this medication? I googled it and it seems to be in the same vein as oxy. Should I take it or not? I've tried talking to my doctors and they just tell me, as long as I am controlling myself I'll be fine, but I think i've already proven I don't have self control with getting addicted to the oxy. Any advice?? Posted on 09/13/08, 12:09 pm |

In reading all of this advice I have to say a few things. Among all of the great advice, I disagree with a couple.
FIRST: Do not tell your doctor youa re allergic to narcotics. Lies do not help you and any GOOD doctor will benefit from knowing your situation when trying to control your pain. Pain is a factor that contributes to relapse. Not taking anything is sometimes worse than taking something. However, having someone keep them for you is a great idea. SECOND: Never believe "XXXXXX doesn't work". I have been a nurse for 17 years and I can tell you everyone is different. What does not work for one may work for another. At the same time you will need more meds than most because of your past addiction. Do you have an addiction councellor of some sort that can help you? Cam yu get one?
