My son was born 8 days ago. He was 8 weeks pre mature. Hes perfectly healthy but he keeps getting jaundice. like...it will go away and come back the next day. im not 2 worried about it bc its normal. hes up 2 the weight he was at when he was born ((3 lbs 12 oz)) my doc says he will be out of the hospital if he does well in 2 or 3 weeks. hes up 2 an ounce of food now. next week they are gonna try bottle feeding. im afraid i will do something wrong when i get him home. any suggestions on how 2 keep the anxiety down and the confidence up??

" Hi my littlest was premature also he was 7 wks early. He was 4lbs 13oz. He was in the nicu for about week. It will b ok he is making it thru the rough times now and believe me the dr wont release him if until he knows that he will be fine when u take him home. I know I was told many things when I took him home . Germs were big thing with preemies. So we had to keep germicide gel in every room and use it before we touched him and everyone in the house had to use it . Also we were told also to use bottled water with the formula and not use spicket water . I breastfed fora bout month but it was to hard because since he was premature so many weeks he fell asleep at the breast so they put him on extra 2 calorie formula and it helped big time with him gaining weight and he loved it.
I was nervous but what was most hard for me to handle was he slept so much u know they say with preemies they sleep more then anything and that is how they grow and get stronger so he slept like 18 hrs a day ya iknow we used to always say man when wll he opnen his eyes lol and I remember he had no eyebrows for a while since he was born so early.
but as long as u tak care of urself and remain kool and give him as much love as u can and hold him close to you he will b fine .
My lilman just turned 3 in july and he is great no prob's wha so ever and is 50lbs. He has really thrived ! So it will be ok if u ever want to talk please message me !
Good Luck and congrats !!!!! "

" Your little one sounds like he is doing great. I remember my girls when they were in the NICU had jaundice a couple of times also (they were born at 29 weeks). The little shades they had to put on them bothered me the most because they literally velcroed them to their little heads! Anyway, we are all hear to support you in anyway that we can! as far as what to expect when you bring them home: Keep everything clean and make everyone wash their hands before they touch him. If they have even the slightest of sniffles don't allow them in the house. Babies born prematurely are at a higher risk for RSV. I , too was extremely nervous when I brought my girls home. But, the happiness of finally having them home overrode that. I promise you will be fine! Let me know if you have any questions. Please keep us updated on his progress:) "
