Coming home outfit

So, we've settled on a name (finally!!); I had to pull the "I am going to make an executive decision if you keep putting this away any further" card; and that's was that… baby's named! - tick that off the list.

Now, I have been looking for a baby's coming home outfit; and call me snobby, but I am thinking that this outfit is the one that I will use to take the pictures for the baby announcement cards (which I have also thought I could make some nudies of the baby and it would totally cute also). In any case, since I have a feeling this baby is going to be white as ghost (like daddy); I have been looking for dark blue and/or dark brown (chocolate) outfits, and it has proven almost impossible, unless you want to drop $75 for a little jacket (which I have also been tempted but sort of goes against my principles!).

Does this annoy you? That most outfits are either baby blue or baby pink? There arent many trendy, cool colors for babies??

I am SO not your baby blue/pink kind of person and it's getting on my nerves lately (OK, OK… I have been grouchy lately for so many reasons, this is just one more!)

Anyhoo... If you have a good website or store, or have seen little dark blue outfits, please let me know!!

" Go to Sears, they have great outfits for both boys and girls! :) They are more expensive than Walmart of course, but they have some adorable and cool outfits!

" Its very hard to find something other then pink for my dd to wear!!! Im not a pink kind of person either, or a baby blue kind of person, and they make baby clothes so cheesy! I have had luck at this store called childrens place in the mall...it has real cute clothes and when they are on sale they arent that expensive! "

" I haven't seen any out there lately, but I agree that shopping is frustrating when you know what you are looking for and that first outfit is important! (I am against spending lage amounts of money on baby clothes too!)

With my first I picked a light blue and my husband picked a dark blue and I let dad win... but baby was darker toned like dad and should have been in the light blue! With my second I had a dark blue and a light blue and baby was very light skinned, light haired, light eyed and looked better in the dark. I loved the light outfit and we had pictures done in it but he was washed out in it.

I am a little surprised you aren't having luck with the dark brown since it is so popular in everything right now! Good luck with your hunt! "

" Infant clothes stink! I brought my son home in an eagles(phila) outfit which at 8lbs 3ozs was kinda of big. I waited to send my birth announcements until I had professional pics done at 4weeks. They were nudes, and turned out good. Clothes on infants never seem to look good. "

" Old Navy, Kohls. For some reason I'm really into mooses and they have really cute outfits for boys with mooses on them at Kohls. "

" I do have a couple of moose outfit, that are totally adorable; and I am also half tempted to do the nudies for the announcement. But still! I wanted a special outfit (that will not be one of his regular cute outfits)to bring him home.

I could just picture him in a dark colored outfit, with a little beanie hat and all... but in a 'manly' color...LOL

I know, I am sounding a bit irrational... I actually found something on Macy's that is brown and has a little hat and all, but I will go and check it out tomorrow and see if I like the fabric and stuff (you know you can never trust those pictures!!)... and... it was actually very - VERY reasonably priced... so I will go tomorrow and check it out...:)

I'll let you know if I found somehting this weekend! "

" OK these places are NOT reasonably priced but I love Kissy Kissy clothes---just google it. The fabric is always really nice. The clothes wear and wash well and are adorable. I also buy most of Beckham's clothes from Janie and Jack---the have very cute boy clothes. Beck came home in the cutest Kissy Kissy outfit---it was dark and light blue. When he was an infant I was so sick of baby blue so we found him a lot of things that were all different colors. You can also try baby Gap--they have a lot of navy and brown for boys!!! Good luck and have fun!!! "

" with my daughter I found a really sweet outfit at babys are us but I went the other day to look around and I couldnt find anything I was happy with. One thing I have noticed is this trend for the baby girl stuff to be pink and chocolate brown.... actually now that I think about it a lot of my older daughtes cloths has brown in them too. I personally am a purple girl. I love all things purple. But I havent found any baby stuff that I really love thats purple. All the baby girl stuff for the bedroom was pink and brown and I really dont like it.

Im gonna check out these other stores and see if I can find anything. The other problem is my 5 year old wants a say in everything we buy for her sister and wants it to be her 'idea' so when I do find something I have to make it seem like it was her brain child lol "

" I didn't get a fancy going home outfit - just loads of popper-up-the-front sleepsuits - they're the best!
But I am really irritated by all the pastels and just dyed a load black so I have a little ninja in my pushchair :)
Next batch will be dark green I think. Just buy cheap white cotton suits and dye them - the stitching will stay white though. "

" I like Gymboree and Janie and Jack. Not very cheap but they have great stuff for a special little outfit and have things that are not all pastels. I also found some cute stuff at Carters. They had some choclate brown corduroy pants and some cute sweaters to go with it. They were more affordable then the other two. "
