Ok, I apologize for this grose subject.
My baby is 2 weeks old and you know i've been sittin' on these pads; my "Lily" is RAW! What can I do to help it? It's not like I can not wear the pads. And another thing-really grose part-its not smelling so fresh down there. Even right after a bath its nasty. It has been 10 years since I had a baby so maybe I just don't remember but are these problems normal? Posted on 07/05/09, 12:07 am |

OK this is going to sound weird but I would stop using pads and start using depends adult diapers. I used them after my first and they were much better than using pads.

Thanks for making this post. I didn't really know anything about this stuff. I'm due in August and now I can go get these things and be prepared.

More advice...
If you are going to breastfeed, you will definately want to buy nursing pads. Take some to the hospital with you also. Johnson's are good disposable ones. There are disposable and washable ones. My baby is 3 weeks old and now that my milk is in when she nurses on one side the other side flows out and drenches the pad. I found that I was going through too many pads and I want to try and use one set per day-cause I'm cheap like that-so when I nurse her I put a small towell on the other nipple, using my nursing bra to hold it in place, to catch the flow to save the pads. And supposedly, breastfeeding is not supposd to hurt and nipples are not supposed to blister unless the baby is not latched on right but I say that is a crock! I know I latched my baby correctly-I'm a nursing pro- and for the first week I had blisters and for the first 2 weeks I had my teeth gritted and toes curled when she first latched on. Now finally after week 2, no more pain. I will also say that wincing bloody murder is worth the pain for the benefit of the baby and the closeness of the two of us. But what I was going to say was the lactation consultant at the hospital gave me a tiny tube of lanolin cream and that tube was the only one I needed. It only takes a little bit after baby nurses while the nipple is so raw. Another thing, I think we should take a poll on how many of us were constipated and needed a bottle of stool softeners. Everything I eat has fiber in it but it doesn't matter. My body does not want to go.

take those nursing pads to the hospital wether you are going to nurse or not... your milk will still come in and if not you will still get leakage (I leakedany time my baby cried). I actually started leakingat 20 weeks or so lol...
