Taking Baths?

I've heard from several people that taking bath's is okay during pregnancy, as long as the water isn't hotter than 100 degree's so the closer to your body temp the better.
I'm 22 weeks, and I've been taking bath's since the beginning. I only take shower's when I'm in a hurry. I was just told by 3 different people, however, that taking bath's is not good because water going into your vagina is not good during pregnancy and because it can relax your muscles to much and make you go into labor. I'm just wondering if any of this is true because last night our shower broke and now I'm worried that if i keep taking baths much longer it can harm my baby. Posted on 07/04/09, 10:07 pm |

Hi. None of thats true. Bath's are safe. All I have is a tub and I soaked for a long time while I was pregnant. What would women do in the old days before showers?

baths are fine just don't put any "stuff" in teh water (oils, salts, etc). They can give you yeast infections.

yep0 baths are fine. Hot tubs are a little risky because of the heat and then my doctor said it was becaus eit could make you unstable while geting out because they are sooo hot. I take pretty hot baths for pain management. the only time you need to avoid a bath is if you think that your water may have broke but even that I wonder about because people have water births

i did my research, and found that a hot tub can ONLY be harmful early in the pregnancy, in the last few weeks, or if you sit in it for over 6 hours. And the water in the vagina is so not true! lol. my midwives did tell me that the hott water isnt that good for the baby however, and even when i shower, my tummy should point away from the water most of the time, and when i bathe, the water shouldnt be more than 100 degrees, which isnt that hot! But, your right, what did women do before showers? but then there water couldnt get that hot anyways haha. Just be careful and ask the doctor. he knows best! im 24 and a half week and i know how niiice those baths feel about this time!!
