SO today I ended up in the ER. I am 13 weeks (tomorrow) and have had some pretty bad cramping and today some very light spotting. I was also having problems with feeling like my blatter was always full even after going to the bathroom as well as a yeast infection (I had to take some antibiotics for an absessed tooth).
Well they did an ultra sound (my first for this baby) THe technition made me sooo mad. First she wouldnt let my husband in the room ... ok fine its an er for emergancies but still its our first glimps at our little baby.... But to make matters worse she didnt even make it very easy for ME To see the baby and I was in the blasted room. She cou.dnt be bothered to show me the babies heart beat or even tell me what it was at. I got a sideways glimps at the shadow of my baby. For all she knew I could have been miscarring and it may have been the only chance I would ever have... I just felt it soooo heartless.... Turns out I have 2 nice little infections... both a yeast infection and a nice little UTI. They think the spotting is from the infection and that the baby is ok but I still have to take it easy for a couple of days. THe one thing that threw me for a loop was they told me to use monistat supository for the yeast infection and said it was ok and perfectly safe. I had heard on here at least that it was not safe. Im going to call my OB just to make sure but I thought I would ask you gals if you have been told anything about this.... Posted on 07/03/09, 04:07 am |

Oh ya... I also learned that I have LOST nearly 30 pounds. I am over weight I was 260ish prepregnancy and I lost weight with my daughter. MY doc said as long as I am eating not to worry about it. I was jsut suprised to learn that it was almost 30 pounds in 13 weeks.... Oddly enough my pants still are almost to tight and I have to think about maternity clothes and my bra is 2 sizes bigger lol so maybe its my butt and my legs lol....

Ahhh E.R Ultrasound Tech's can be so rude. I went to the hospital when I was around 7 weeks pregnant because i was cramping really bad. When they took me to get an ultra sound, the tech was an older women who looked really nice. WRONG. She said she was going to use the Inter vaginal thing and I was like "is it going to hurt?" and she was like "it doesn't feel any different than sex, and thats what got you here to start with isnt it?" I was a little bit shocked, but just let it go, then she asked my boyfriend to hold my legs because i was shaking because i was nervous, then was like "Can you just not breath?" and I just looked at her, I didn't know how to respond. So I held my breath and waited. I asked if she was going to let us see the heartbeat and she snapped back at me with "YES! As soon as I get finished doing what i'm paid to do okay?" Needless to say when we finally got out I started crying from my feelings being hurt so many times.
My mom later called the hospital and made a formal complaint and the head of radiology said he would take care of it. Some people can be sooo heartless. They have no idea what we're going through and this being my first baby I was scared of everything. But as For the monistat, I've heard its safe. But if it would make you feel better, I would talk to your OB/GYN first. He may prescribe you something else. (=

Man, these ER people are rude huh! But, I kind of know what ya'll mean-mine were not that rude but did not believe me when my bladder was about to explode. Um, I had over 1000 ccs of urine in there and was NOT surprised when they told me this. My lesson? Never again going to the ER, as I had to wait TWO hrs, way longer than would have happend had I just drove the hr away to my regular hospital! Lesson learned lol. I just wanted to throw in my support because I know ER visits are scary as all heck when pregnant b/c you worry for your baby!

I went to my doc for a yeast infection at about 30 weeks and was told to use over the counter monistat 3 days cause it was mild.

I'm glad your checking with your ob because mine told me not to use the vaginal inserts. They said only the external cream was ok.

I'm sorry they were so rude to you. During my last pregnancy, I had some bleeding and went to the ER....same thing, they wouldn't let my husband in there (which pissed me off, he's my husband and it's his child as much as it is mine) and she did the entire exam without me getting to see what she was doing. When she was done, she did let me see the heartbeat, but she said that I could see it as long as I didn't say anything to the doctors or other staff.....I don't know why but maybe it's some crazy ER policy that we aren't allowed to see our own babies....WTF, very heartless indeed.
As far as the monistat, I honestly don't know if it's safe or not, so I would definitely ask your OB tomorrow to be sure. I know that ER doctors do know what they're doing, but I trust my OB over anyone else.
