Hi ladies,
I am 8 weeks pregnant and I am going to Istanbul on business. Then staying on a week for vacation my husband is going to meet me there. Has anyone traveled during their first trimester? What do you recommend to keep my baby safe and sound. I am going to the doctor on Monday so will also ask. Leaving on Tuesday. Thanks! Posted on 07/02/09, 10:07 am |

I don't have much to reccomend except that I was told to make sure to get up and walk at least every hour while en route to avoid any blood clots which are VERY bad in pregnancy and to make sure to drink enough water. I don't know about going over seas, but this is what the doc told me for our recent long car trip.
Have fun and good luck!

Besides what woodnymph said, I would watch what you eat and water and food sources.

Im probally not a good one to ask because I had a very bad experiance with trave and altitude changes. I was much farther along and the trip resulted in the emergancy c section of my son. My body didnt do well with the change in altitude. THat said I Know a lot of women travel during pregancy and do just fine. Personally I will be keeping myfeet planted in my little town even while my husband goes away for training the last 3 months of my pregnancy (I could go see him but wont take the risk and he agrees).
I would definantly talk to your doctor and be prepared to stay home if he says its not a good idea. If you get the go ahead I would drink only bottled water and really watch my food choices. And the moveing around while in the plane is a great idea. Also allow your self extra rest. Altitude changes are hard on your uterus and living eniviroment for the baby. There is a higher level of premmies in higher altitude places. So allow for that change and really take it easy good luck and I hope that if you get to go you have a good time. I dont want to scare you just warn you to be cautious
