" My sis mentioned this to me just the other day. Apparently she got told off by her midwife when she was pregnant for painting the nursey as it was dangerous coz it involved her stretching. Dont know it 'normal' stretching e.g gettin out of bed n stretching counts, but i think am gonna ask my midwife all the same xx "

" Don't worry about it. I have been doing prenatal yoga workouts and all of them have you stretch with your hands above your head. They wouldn't be able to sell the DVD's if it wasn't safe. "

" i have 3 children and never heard of this while i was pregnant with them, but now with this baby a friend just told me this same thing.i would say not to worry to much about it cause my 3 children were never born with their cords around their neck, and the job that i did when i was prego with them i did do alot of streching, for me i feel it is just a myth, but i guess if it is in the back of your mind just try to be cautious. " ;-) I heard it from the same person that told me not to touch my stomach when I was mad or scared b/c I would cause a birth mark in the shape of whatever I was mad or scared of. So if I saw a snake and was scared of the snake and touched my belly my child would have a snake shaped birthmark on him.

As much flipping and twisting as these little ones do, reaching over your head isn't going to do a thing. "

" i asked my dr this exact question (i stretch alot during the night and i sleep with my arms above my head). he said it won't hurt the baby at all, as long as you're not in pain then it's fine. but you might want to ask your dr anyway. "

" This is just an old wives tale, they also say if you go to Hawaii and they put a lei on you that will make the cord wrap around the babies neck. "
