I read somewhere, can't remember where, that pregnant women should avoid mayo and ranch dressing because they contain raw eggs. Thoughts? I can't remember where I read it and now that I am trying to find it in my books I can't find it anywhere, although of course they do say you shouldn't eat raw eggs while pregnant.

I ALSO HEARD OF THE MAYO BUT NOT THE RANCH.I WAS TOLD TO EAT THE STUFF CALLED MIRACLE WHIP INSTED OF MAYO.AND EVEN IF YOU DO EAT THE RANCH IT SHOULD BE JUST ENOUGH FOR FLAVOR.I EAT IT ON MY SALADS BUT VERY LITTLE.

I say if you have any doubt of what you do or eat when your pregnant you should follow that even if you cant find it anywheres. Follow your feelings. You deinitely dont want to be stressing or worrying about something your eating. Fix all? Dont eat it.

I also ask my RE about deli meat.....and he said it's fine as long as it's fresh meat-be MORE worried about chez...which I live in! There are SOOOO many different answers I gave up...I have a healthy son and I just do everything in moderation including coffee!!!

unless you are making it yourself, it's fine. ANYTHING containing eggs in the store has been pasteurized and is safe.

Although like everyone, you do want to avoid the potato salad containing mayo sitting out in the hot sun at the picnic.

I heard only homemade mayo is bad. The ranch dressing has mayo, which theoretically could be bad if its....homemade mayo. I eat commercial ranch and mayo with no trouble whatsoever, except that it goes against my vegetarian diet which has been out the window since pregnancy! LOL
