I have a herniated disk in my lower back that is pinching a nerve. I am also 6 weeks pregnant. I know the back pain is going to just get worse, but it is killing me now since I cannot take my medication while I am pregnant. Can anyone give me any tips on what to do to help relief the back back now while I can? Thanks!

" i have heard that a heating pad on low can help. i know you can take tylenol while pregnant if that helps you.. my dr told me to use it for my headaches if i got them.. Good luck to you. "

" Thank you. I will definitely try that. I dont want to take tynenol unless needed. I really don't want to be taking any medication while I am pregnant. But i will keep that in mind. Thank you. "

" i said the same thing.. but i was very concerned about my headaches cause i was getting migraines so when i asked him if there was anything i could take.. he told me tylenol... since i would normally only use ibuprophen for even my migraines and found out that was bad to take during pregnancy. oddly enough though i havent had one since getting pregnant... knock on wood.. and havent taken so much as a tylenol..thankfully.. but it is alright to take.. so i know it is there if absolutely needed. i dont like taking meds of any kind unless really necessary.. i dont even want pain meds if i can handle it. so i know where you ar coming from. " Tanya--My OB told me the same thing about my migraines...I have them so bad I can get 6-10 a month where I am puking and in bed for a day or two. I was on some pretty heavy duty drugs before I got PG but had to go off all of them...I was so nervous about getting them during my pg but so far I have only had a couple...Tylenol does nothing but my OB gave me Tylenol #3 (w/codeine). I only take it if I get a bad one during the day and have no one around to help with my other kids...I have only taken 3 and I am at 34-35 weeks.
I would recomend asking for something that is safe to take if the pain gets so bad you can't deal...just because you have it doesn't mean you have to take it but it is comforting to know that it is there just in case... "
