Yay, I'm excited. This is my first month TTC! I am 28 years old, healthy weight, don't smoke or drink and I have been taking prenatal vitamins since last month. I know when I ovulate and it's the same every month. I've been off the pill for a year now. I can't stand the waiting game - the days go by so slow.
I'm really curious to know how quickly I'll get pregnant. What was it like for some of you here? And if it did take long, were there reasons why?

" When my hubs and I decided to start trying, I never got my next period. We were shocked bc so many people try for so long and nothing happens... when my son was 6 months old, I found out I was pregnant again. (whoops...) so after my 2nd I went on the pill. I went off the pill bc I had stomach surgery and couldn't take it, and ended up pregnant 7 weeks later. Apparently we are VERY fertile people bc its not like we do the deed 3 times a day... There is a cease and desist order on my uterus now so we will be taking long term precautionary measures after this one is born. :) "

" I too got pregnant on the first try. I thought it would take a long time, because of health issues, but i was pleasantly surprised when the pregnancy test said positive 3 weeks later! I know this doesn't always happen... in fact hardly ever. I hope my next one goes this quick, but I don't expect it... that way I won't be let down if it doesn't :) Good luck, and have fun!! "

" I hope it goes fast for you! It was right away for us. I missed a couple doses of the pill, and we decided it was a good time for a new one. Four weeks later, we got a positive test. I missed my period, and was nauseated right away. I feel like I can hold hands and get pregnant, so we're looking at options to postpone the next one for hopefully a couple of years. "

" Well I certainly hope I am as lucky as all you were! In your opinions, do you think it's necessary to do the deed everyday during ovulation time or is every couple of days sufficient? "

" My husband and I decided to start trying when I turned 27. We assumed we would be pregnant right away. We tried for 6 months, then saw my doctor and I was referred to the fertility clinic. We ended up getting pregnant after our first month seeing our fertility specialist (about 14 months of trying in total). At the time, it felt like we were trying forever. However, once we became pregnant, it felt like it happened right away. Our fertility issues ended up being on my side. I had an test done and it showed that I only have one ovary. I thought I ovulated every month, but turns out it was every second month. After we found that out, I was put on Chlomid and we had an iui done. That's how we got our baby! I hope that your journey is quick and send lots of baby dust your way. Don't worry if it takes a little while though. There are lots of factors at play and doctors can do amazing things to help couples that struggle. Good luck! "

" sperm lives 48-72 hours. it needs to survive long enough to swim upstream and meet the egg. the egg only lives for 24hr if unfertilized. so pretty much you need to do the deed the day BEFORE you actually ovulate so that his little swimmers are ready and waiting. :) i'd say every other day for best results. " I hope things work out for you! - My husband and I have been trying since September, I got off the pill in September and we still have been trying and nothing has happened yet. :( I just recently purchased a book on fertility and a thermometer. Hopefully I can track my temps and stay on track with the chart and in the end have a healthy baby! I'm willing to try it for a few months if no success I'll be seeing a specialist also.

Good luck ! :) "

" Lor - my friend has also been trying for about the same time as you (October) with no luck. She just went off the pill the same month she started trying, so her periods have been wonky or absent. I think it might just be that some people's cycles take longer to regulate themselves after getting off the pill. Have you tried using an ovulation predictor kit so you know if you are actually ovulating? "

" My boyfriend and I didn't really try to figure out when I'd be ovulating or anything like that, we just went at it like crazy and were pregnant two months later :)

It was very fun getting pregnant this time around (with my daughter it was a "whatever happens, happens") and with our son it was definetely "let's have a baby!!!" so it was more exciting I think. Also I think having kind of spontaneous sex was good for us when we were trying, took the pressure off of it "
