Me and my husband have been trying to get pregnant for the past 4 months. I am not nor have I been on any type of birth control. My last exam told me that I was healthy. I have 1 son who will be 7 in a few days and he was carried full term and born healthy. I have not been pregnant since. Bt as of lately my periods have been irregular, does that mean anything? Or should we keep trying?

Are you excessively stressed?

I would discuss it with your OB/Gyn. Technically, inability to get pregnant is not classified as infertility until you have tried without success for at least 1 year. But, I think it is a great idea to discuss it with your doctor earlier. They may want to run some labs to make sure that there is not a change in your thyroid function or your hormone levels that could account for the increased irregularity of your periods. They also may want to review if you are on any medications that could be interfering. Also, they may go over lifestyle factors that can inhibit your ability to get pregnant like stress, too much caffeine, smoking etc. Also, there is an infertility support group on this site. You may want to post this there as well because they may have some other helpful suggestions. I hope this is helpful and wish you the best of luck.

I agree with Kara. You need to talk with your md...it cold just be stress....but how irregular are your periods? Since when have they been irregular? I would definitely ask to have some thyroid function tests done, as well as levels of female hormones...irregular periods could be a sign of several things..stress, a cyst, or even premature menopause...do not wait. The sooner you find out, the better. Other possibilities could be blocked fallopian tubes, dh 's low sperm count, etc. It all needs to be checked. Normally, infertility is ttc for over one year, but in some cases, it should be checked out sooner Also, infertility in those over 235 is, I believe categorised at ttc for over 6 mths. So, you should take things on a case-by-case basis. GO for a check up. GOod luck!
