I was just wondering what are somethings that I need to pack for myself and the baby when going into the hospital for delivery?
How will I know what formula is best for my baby? Posted on 10/18/09, 08:10 pm |

well the hospital will usualy provide the formula while yor in the ospital and I believe its based on what the baby doctor decides.
As for stuff for you here are lots of great lists out there but a couple of things that i find are a must are: Your own hygeine stuff this will help you feel human Extra undies that are very comfortable and perferably not ones that are bikini cut as if you have an er c section not hainv ndies that sit right after suck and relying on some one to go buy you undies is almost as bad Disposable nursing pads and a comfy bra (nigt bra perferably) over night pads for the bleeding I think I remember some one recomending a certain brand that was really good a whil back you may want to check the prior posts... Im thinking like 2 months ago old snacks for you and hubby asthe choices the nurses often have are not always the greatest and hubby wont want to have to go out for food once baby is here comfortable going home clothes for your self as your belly wl still be there just flabby and rather sore a change of clothes for hubby.. you never know A phone list and a calling card if anyone is outside of your calling area OR your cel phone and CHARGER something for photos and extra storage space (Ill have a comp there to down load to when my memory gets full on the camera) a car seat going home clothes for baby and a diaper bag wth diapers and wipes ect for the trip home Im sure there is stuff Im forgetting... just remember to take odd ball things like extra batteries and pack chargers so you can take those pressous pictures

Front opening nightie to labour in so you can have skin to skin when your baby pops out.
Cotton wool and nappies - I guess the hospital may provide if you don't have any but I didn't want to be a drain on the NHS! :) Baby vests and baby sleepsuits. You'll need more than you think because new babies are rubbish at eating and spit up all over the place :) I don't really know about formula but it's quite nice to try breast feeding to start off with. The hospital I was at had a few different types of formula to hand out while you were there and we tried two. One seemed to be better than the other but I'm not sure that wasn't just the baby settling down and getting used to eating. He had some health issues so they wanted us to top up breast feeds with bottles so he didn't lose weight. This didn't affect the breast feeding at all and after those first couple of days he's totally breast fed. So you can always give some formula initially then try breast feeding when your milk comes in and your breasts get really engorged. Definitely take some snacks as you'll be hungry after delivery and won't get much time to eat. Good luck!
