This question is maybe for second-time moms or anyone who knows labor well. But...I went to my dr today and I was dialated to 2cm and thinnning (he didn't say how thin though). I'm just curious what you think about what this means in terms of when I'm going to go into labor! Doc said it could be tonight or two weeks from now. If only there was a crystal ball right? I've heard you can stay at a 2 for quite awhile when it's your first? I am hoping so as DH is out of town til thurs and we're moving tom. If I'm having contractions I'm missing them. I feel very uncomfortable (like with pressure in the pelvis and lower abdomen) but nothing that's like crampy. I also feel nauseated and like I have diahreah. Just anyone please give me any thoughts...

With me, when I went into labour, pain started in my lower back on my right side, and slowly got worse. When i got to the hospita about 3-4 hrs later, l I was already 5 cinameters dialted, my water had ruptured...so, lol, its different with every woman. You'll know when you have a contraction, you'll know. Thought with my, I thought mine was just back pain, but when it would be stronger and than ease, I'm was like, wait a min, this isnt normal. Maybe you should call your doctor just to be safe, you never know!!!.

I've been at a 2 and 50% effaced for about 1 month now, and I have one more week to go til my due date. And this is baby #5 for me. I've been getting pretty desperate to go into labor too, but its just not happening!

I have been at a 1cm dilation for 3 wks with a soft cervix but mucus not thining out. I too have the nausea and diahreah pain in the pelvis and lower abdomen and am in the laten phase. Its good that you are thining out I wish I was. I have been told that sex helps and walking and nipple stim I have tried walking no luck sex are you kidding me. Good luck I feel your frustration

Are you losing any mucous plug?? I had contractions start very early in the pregnancy... when I went into labour, the pain was quite bad for the previous day, then my waters actually broke the night before she was birthed. It was just the slightest bit of fluid, and I could control it so I did not realise it was my waters for a while.... After I started losing the plug, it took another 3 weeks to go into labour. The diarrhoea strted with me a week before, it came and went and the night I went into labour it came with every contraction so I was stuck to the loo!! Great in one way, I had a natural birth and did not poo myself in the hospital :) Many women are partially dialated and effaced for weeks before labour kicks in, so it really is not a good indication of impending labour. THe midwives will tell you this also. When you get that feeling of a grapefruit being stuck between your legs, and you can feel your baby grinding your cervix, that is a good indication it will be soon :) Although not everyone gets this either... I was taken to the hospital an hour and a half after my waters broke - they said stay at homw longer, but when we called back with the contraction times they told us to come in right away. I only had one check (my choice, I did not want any more but I was happy to know when I got there) and I was at 5cm. So I must have been dialated before my waters broke!! I imagine that was the aching, cramping pain the previous few days... My best advice, rest up!! I had a very full on couple of weeks before the labour, hosted dinner the night before, was out all that day and when I lay on the couch with my husband to relax, it started... I did it without pain relief, and it was very tiring!! I know it is hard, but honestly use this time to chill out as much as you can. Your baby will be here soon enough :)
