Clindamycin for vaginal bacteria?

Okay you guys, this is kind of gross and embarassing but last time I went to the doctor they did a pap and called me last friday to tell me i had a little bit of a bacterial infection. They assured me that it was STD related and gave me a cream called clindamycin. I did some research and scared myself (which I have the bad habbit of doing) and now I'm afraid to take it because it says like 1.1% of women had abnormal births due to the medicine. I'm pretty sure my doctor knows this and the only reason he gave it to me is because the benefits out-way the risk, but I was wondering if any of you guys have used this before?

i had the same problem but my doctor just proscribed me flagyl. its a oral antibiotic thats really strong. i didnt have any problems and the infection went away. as far as the cream, your doctor wouldnt have prescribed it for you #1 if he/she didnt think it was safe and #2 if they didnt think you needed it. theres more of a chance of not using it and having reoccuring infections. dont read more into it than you need to hon.

Are you in the 1st trimester? Most of the time they say if you are in the first trimester to be cautious. I am maybe 8or 9 weeks pregnant and I got bit by a spider and they prescribed the oral clindamycin...I have to take it 4 times a day for 7 days. The docs take into consideration the benifits and the risk. If you trust your physician continue to use it...if you question his judgement seek a second opinion!
