Alyssa has now been on the lupron injection for over a year now. She is still growing tall. Her levels are where they are supposed to be. But it's thte lupron injection also slow down her growth? I mean her breasts stop growing but that is it. We do have a foolow up with her endo. in 2 weeks but the last time I took her they said that they were not concerned about that. Well I am. Everyone that looks at her says oh how old are you? And we reply that she is 5 yrs. they she can't be. Because that is how tall she is. Really should I be concerned?

" Hello!
I was on Lupron from the ages of 4-12. I was always the tallest in my class for quite some time. Eventually some boys started catching up to me. Finally, in grade 8, some girls started catching up to my height. By the time I was in High School I was more of an average height. It was so disappointing. I loved being tall. I'm 5'7 and a half...and I wish I was two inches taller. :)
So, maybe it's not a huge worry. But, if you are concerned, just mention it to your endo and I'm sure things will be better explained to you. "

" Hey,
I wouldn't worry to much about it. I was put on lupron at age three, and I am 22 now. I am 5'3. For a long time I was the tallest in the class, and I kept growing but eventually the kids caught up with me. Now i'm about the same height as most of my friends, and I don't mind being kind of short. It's a nice change from always being the tall kid. It will just take some time before the other kids catch up with her and her growth will eventually slow down. :) "

" My daughter was the same way...make sure they check her bone age...this can tell how old her bones are & if she has possibly gone through a puberty growth spurt. "
