My daughter will be 9 in the end of July. She got her first "Period" in Febuary during the past 3 months her body has developed every thing else (hair, odor, breasts and a smaller waist)although she still has "Baby teeth" but they have started to fall out at a record pace as well.
She is 5 feet 1.5 inches tall and weighs 120 lbs. (she has always been over the 100% mark)Her MRI was "Normal" her hormone level is very high and her bone age (taken twice) is 12.5 yrs. ( 4 yrs advanced) She is a Happy child. She has'nt had mood swings and she is somewhat ok with her changing body. She has never had any " social issues" although she is tall and bigger than everyone else.We are all tall ( dad 6'5",Mom 5'8", brother 15, 6': sister 14 5'9") She has had sleep issues in the past, night terrors, sleep walking and waking up several times a night. However at the moment that seems to have passed. So, the question I have is should we treat her? Yes, she is out of the box "early" but should we risk taking the meds in order for her development to stop and her to gain more height ? or should we let nature run it's corse? My daughter is also almost 9 and was diagnosed with pp last yr. She has pubic hair, and breast buds have formed. she still has not began menstruation but Im sure it will probably happen within the next yr.
i have thought about medication, but im not in favor of it...we came to the conclusion to just let nature take its course. when did you talk to your daughter about menstruation? I havent spoken to mine as of yet, basically waiting for her to be at least 9yrs old and take her to her next checkup to see what the drs say.

I had this conversation with her the day it started ( Would have helped if it was sooner)
I had bought the book " The Care and Keeping of you" The body book for girls from The american girl doll library for my older daughter ( who started at age 12 and 1/2) I took the book and my then 81/2 year old into her room and we read the chapter on " Big Changes". It was very helpful and explains all the changes and emotions that go with them. It stresses that the changes are normal. The book is available in big chain book stores as well as the American girl doll store on line. It costs @ 10.00 . I found it very helpful. My daughter has read all of the chapters and often quotes some of it's adive. Other than the book, we had an open on going conversation about what was happening and what to do. She mostly needed to know that she was healthy and that at some point all girls start. This was completely different than my older child. She was way more prepaired, we read the book when she was 10 and then she got to sit through the "talk" in 5th,6th,and 7th grade health class in school and most of her friends had already started before she did. However , I found that with both of them that as long as I listen to their questions and give my best streight foward answer, they are ok. They just need to know what is "normal" and healthy for them. at this point I have not discussed much about sex with my younger child. She is aware of the process. however, she thinks that it is to "gross" to discuss at this point so, we will cross that bridge when we get there.

You say your family is naturally tall, but keep in mind that your daughter has almost reached her full adult height NOW if her bone growth plates are closing, as they do after puberty's onset. You may have waited too long to stop the clock. I would check with a pediatric endocrinologist to be sure.

update: we just went to the doctors office for a regular yearly visit. At this point neither her regular doctor nor her endo are concerned about her growth. Her growth has not shown any signs of stopping or slowing down, yet.
She is still a happy healthy child :)
