Hi
My name is Min Sook Lee, I'm a documentary filmmaker based in Toronto Canada. I am working on a documentary for Canadian television that looks at the possible link between chemicals in household products that mimic hormones and the development of Precocious Puberty. I would like to speak to people who have or are currently experiencing PP. If you are interested talking about your experience, sharing it with others, please contact me. I started doing this documentary because I am a new mother who has many concerns myself about the impact of environmental toxins in our lives and I'd like others to become aware of possible consequences. Thank you for reading this posting. Posted on 08/20/08, 04:08 pm |

I don't know if it is too late, I know you posted about 6 mos ago, but I have wondered to whether hormones in our food has contributed to my daughters CPP. I am willing to talk to you if you are interested.

Hello!
I just joined this group to help people who have children with Precocious Puberty. I was diagnosed with Precocious Puberty at the age of 4. My Mom was very attentive and luckily caught it right away. I was put on Lupron for eight years. I am now a perfectly healthy, five foot seven and a half, perfectly normal 22 year old female. The Doctors never knew the cause of the precocious puberty. Feel free to contact me if you want to talk more about this.

Hi Min, I am a mother of a nine-year-old who was diagnosed with CPP when she was seven. I opted not to accept treatment for her because I feel there are better alternatives to managing this development disorder...diet and exercise being the top two. I was told by my daughter's Docs that the shots have no side effects. I just don't believe that. She is doing well.

Hello, I am a television reporter who is working on a story about this topic. I am interested in finding a family who has experienced this very personal issue. I am in Ohio and looking for families who could help. Thank you.

Hello 'newsman28',
It's wonderful to hear you want to do a report on this topic. My family would be more than happy to be interviewed on this - but we live all the way up in western Canada. I hope you are able to find a family willing to report on this issue. It's difficult to put children in that situation though - since most families don't want other children to know about their childs condition to protect them from ignorance, teasing and misunderstandings. But perhaps you'll be able to find someone older who's been through everything and willing to discuss it. Best of luck to you! :)

My daughter was diagnosed last fall with PP at the age of 6 1/2. The endo suggested that the soy formula she was on as a baby (she was allergic to milk & lactose intolerant) could be a factor as well...soy can produce too much estrogen in a baby's system. In addition, as I have another friend whose daughter also has PP, it's amazing to see the health issues between the two girls...ie. eye sight & seasonal allergy issues, just to name a couple. Nothing has connected this to PP, but I find the commonality of them interesting.

RE: Party of 5
That is so interesting your child and your friend's child have several additional health issues to PP. I had PP growing up - and I have absolutely no health issues. Not one allergy. Nothing. But all our bodies are different and react differently to everything. So who knows if they are linked. I would love to know if any other children experience common health issues to your child. You mentioned your child was on soy formula because she was lactose intolerant. Was your friend's child breast fed? Breast feeding is strongly linked to healthy children. Children who don't receive breast milk tend to be more susceptable to developing numerous health issues, illnesses, and allergies.

I'd be interested. I am waiting for an appointment with the pediatrician to get an actual diagnosis for my daughter who is 4 and has been having body odor and pubic hair for over 1 year. I always wondered if this was caused by drinking milk, since so many hormones are in cows milk.
