Our 2 yr old daughter has been diagnoised with CPP and is not communicating well at this point. We have her in an early development program and have started signing with talking to help her. We are a long way to getting somewhere on this. Her idea is point for everything and I go through the guessing game, trying to figure out what she wants. This normally leads to a meltdown with a temper tantrum lasting anywhere from 10 mins to 30 mins.
When we are in public, it becomes a huge embarassment when things progress to this point. I am at the point of not taking her out in public sometimes because of this. I know so many people are thinking, OMG that child is horrible?!! I've tried to explain to those people around us what's going on but still, I don't want to do this all the time. Any suggestions? Also her social worker has warned me that this may become a learned behavior! I am dreading this if it comes true! Any suggestions? Posted on 03/22/09, 03:03 pm |
