Today my daughter was diagnosed with precocious puberty. Her doctor has ordered and MRI and is seeking insurance approval for treatment. The drug of choice is the Lupron injections. I have read so many horrific stories about the side effects of Lupron and on how painful the injections are. Can anyone offer and insight or advice?

Hi, My 4 year old daughter has had 2 injections now. She has to have one every 21 days. They are not as bad as they say. My daughter gets them in her arms. They switch arms so its not always the same arm. But she says that her arm is sore that day that she gets the shot but that is it. So far so good. My daughter has also had her MRI done and alot of other tests.I'm getting nervous myself now because when she had her MRI done there was a lesion that showed up. So now on 11/18 we get to go see a neurosurgen and a neurologist. I hope this has helped you. If you ever need to talk I'm here.Good luck let me know how it goes.Or if this has help in any way. And jsut remember your not a lone.

Hi!
My daughter started the Lupron injections when she was 7 yrs. old and she is now 9. We are thinking of moving on to the supprelin implant due to financial reasons. Gianna (my daughter) did very well handling the injections. She would get them in her bottom and they would switch sides every injection. She would only complain that she was sore that day but no more. She did gain weight and would complain of bad headaches. My doctor said that they were not side effects from the Lupron but I am not so sure.m Other than that she was fine. She does not have any behavioral issues and she has done very well in school as well. I hope you are doing ok...I know first hand how hard this can be! We are now going through this again it seems like because we are trying to decide for sure on doing the implant with growth hormone as the Lupron by itself is no longer helping Gianna. She is 9 and her last bone age has come back as 13! So, I am really struggling at this time and just worried for making the right decision for my daughter. I hope I have helped you!

I chose not to do the injections but instead to do the implant... I wish I could give you more help we just did not want to have to have her not want to go to the doctor thinking she would get an injection every time... Best of luck.
