Hi everyone
This is my first time on a support group, but really do not know where else to turn, my doctors and family planning have no sympathy and I thought maybe you would have some suggestions. I have only noticed PMS since having my 3 children, this has got worse after each one. My sypmtons are nausea, upset stomach, dizziness, off of food, headaches, but the one I am finding a huge problem is the awful mood. One day I am fine the next it feels like a black cloud has come down. I have to remind myself how lucky I am and this makes me feel worse when I know how some people in the world are suffering and still remain happy. I am now on Implanon which has made my moods balanced during the month bar my PMT week which is now and I spent the night crying my eyes out. Hubby and family tell me to snap out of it which is easy for them to say. I think I just need to know that there are others feeling this way and would like to know if there are any alternative therapies that have helped. I know that I am not depressed as the rest of the month I feel great, its just these 4 days of hell thats driving me mad. Thank You For you help Debs Posted on 10/31/09, 05:10 am |

It sounds like you need to find a good ob-gyn who will be willing to work with you and help you! I've been searching for 5 years since I started having many of your same symptoms. I just finally found an amazing practice that emphasizes gyn care. So many OBs are all about babies - those of us with gyn problems get left behind and don't find a real solution. There are many types of therapies that might be useful. My biggest help is getting fresh air, exercise, and eating right. I've cut out caffeine completely (HUGE help!) and am working on cutting out processed foods and sugars. I've seen gigantic improvements.
There are some medications that are approved for PMDD as well - they can possibly help you with the mood issues. But your symptoms sound like you've got big things going on. I'd make it your mission to find a doctor who's willing to work with your hormones and find you a better balance. My doctor said my hormones could be the root of my anxiety, asthma, frequent illnesses, heart pounding, etc - because if one thing in your body is off, the whole system can get thrown off. To your hubby and family - well, you can't just 'get over it". I always hated that. My dad used to call them "episodes" until I helped him better understand what was happening to me. I tried to put it into terms and symptoms he could understand. He also has seen me push and push to find solutions. Hopefully they can find more respect for your work at bettering yourself. Keep a journal too - I find this extremely helpful - no one can judge you in a journal! Plus it's very beneficial to help you track your symptoms and use it when talking with your doctor. HANG IN THERE! There are people out here who totally understand everything you're going through!!
