I need some advice :)

So I need some advice from all of you awesome people. I met with my psycho- pharm doctor yesterday and she made the suggestion of up-ing my meds from 300mg to 400mg of Neurotin aka Gabapentin. I feel like I am stuck on what to do for multiple reasons and would like your advice. For starters, I am doing much better than I was months ago. I haven't had a panic attack in two months. I have been going for neuro-feedback and bio-feedback, and I've been taking bach flowers, and I have even tried hypnosis, and i've been in talk therapy for a while. I feel like all of these have helped. However, in the same token I still feel a level of anxiety all the time. Since I was a child I have always been anxious, and I don't know what calm is. My point being I have learned to live with being anxious. So I think part of me is afraid to finally be calm because it's unknown territory. In addition to this, I've been having a lot of flashbacks lately. That are leaving me anxious and on the threshold of a panic attack, but I have used other techniques to calm myself to stay below the point where I have an attack. Therefore my question is, should I up the meds because i am still having flashbacks, or should I leave it because i'm not having attacks right now?
Thank u so much in advance :)

" I don't know the answer to that......and only really you can make that decision. Perhaps re-read your post in the perspective that it's what someone else has written and think about it from there. You're really the only one who knows yourself so make the judgement and decision based on what you feel. Either way you can always change your mind and try the alternative option or don't do anything in the next month and see how you go. Best of luck and whatever happens, you have the opportunity to learn from it. There is no failing with PTSD, just learning to cope and picking yourself back up to continue your healing journey. "

" Hope,

If you haven't, ask your PDoc "WHY?" and explain what you just said to us!! NikiT is correct, you are the only one who can really answer this in the end, but I will say that I'd really want to understand WHY my PDoc would want to do that to me if I was in exactly your shoes, and I would take some convincing.

But that's me.

I will offer the direct advise to you to remember that the PDoc works FOR YOU. You are the boss. You have the right (and in my opinion the responsibility) to question anything they say... to make your own decision, and to MAKE them work WITH you... not ON you (if that makes any sense).

Let us know what you decide and how it works out!!

D. "
