Is there a way out of the PTSD prison. We all are different and have different starting places and different paces of healing.

Do you believe you can heal? It seems to follow if you do not believe you can effect your PTSD you are helpless. If you believe you can not heal then percentages are good you will not.

Do you do any action to improve your condition everyday? Research has shown that knowing your disorder, your brain function and action on those items leads to improvement.

Are you the quarterback of your recovery? Doing something to heal everyday improves you more than all the talk or evaluation in the world.

Do you have a direction? You are the quarterback and no one cares as much as you about your health.

Would a daily routine and a journal help?

You can adjust your effort and start to heal. No one can do it for you.

" Right now, I'm just treading water. It's a discovering time for me. I don't have & can't relate to some of the PTSD symptoms mentioned on DS, but I have enough symtoms to make me keep at the research.

Unfortunately, I can't seek any help with this except what I can find on the web. It's a long story, but so far, I "think" I'm handling it OK. If I'm wrong, I suppose I'll self-destruct somewhere down the road.

Thanks for asking. "

" My major PTSD symptom is GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) and occasional panic attacks. Sometimes depression, but not often, I think it depends on the time of the month! LOL.... onewanderer, I found your article very interesting...and I agree with all of it. Sometimes knowing what to do is easier then doing it though! I try to do some of the things on a daily basis, others you mentioned I had not thought about before, or tried yet, but Im going to try them. My biggest problem is, Knowing what I need to do, having the desire to do it, and then not having the time! LOL... I have two little ones, a husband, housework, laundry, food shopping, A Narcissistic Mother to deal with...so I lose track of time, But my healing is important and necessary, so Im just going to have to make more time. for me.... I guess the housework will have to wait ( awwww darn lol) "

" Another good question and place to start your healing.

Overoad your mind with good and gentle thoughts. One of happiness and glee. Let loose for an hour and enjoy just the scenery or a plant or a sunset. You can have happiness and still have anxiety. It has been done. "

" one wanderer is onto something here. It may sound cheesy but having a positive attitude and focusing on things that make me happy often mean the difference between freaking out and just having a kinda stressful day. Sometimes though it's gonna fall apart anyway. But thats the rub. Trying to make more good days and fewer disasters. "

Whether you think that you can, or think that you can't, you're usually right.

My correlation: KNOW you can.
