I got a call from a local therapist, needing a guinea pig so she could get some clinical hours toward a certification. She walked me through this exercise.
Skeptical though I was, it got my legs shaking uncontrollably. It really did remind me of how animals respond to trauma, in nature (including any rabbit chased by my dog).
I've only done it twice, so I can't say it changed my life .... but ... you truly DO get the sense that it's wringing some long-lived anxiety out of the body .... which strikes me as A Good Thing.
[Obviously, if you have particular medical concerns, you should discuss this with your physician before trying it .....]
Wishing you/us all ... peace, health, and strength.

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

I don't get to know what trauma my current support dog (my avi) went through before I found her at the pound at about 9 months old, but certain events -like trying to get her to share a tent with me- will cause her to freeze and start shaking until she pees all over herself. She still has nightmares. I do not believe animals release trauma any where near as easily as the top-of-the-academic-food-chain crowd likes to think they do. Hard to know. The more time I spend with non-human-animals, the less I believe I know their inner workings. Humans are the animals I spend the least time with.
Until we get to the other side of the trauma, shaking and trembling as animals all do after they are paralyzed, we fully come through it is what DR Peter Levine studies show.
I haven't tried it but I am interested. Going to stick with my EMDR since it is helping but after might want to look into it. Makes sense as the whole animal kingdom does it. Sucks being a two-legged sometimes :)
I'm watching the video now. Really want it to work for me, even if it doesn't change my whole life, just to do something to get some of that c-PTSD stored up anxiety out even if just a little.
In return, here's the first rock band I ever saw live, a South American Beatles-imitating band that played a private party at my school in Uruguay called Los SHAKERS. Ha!
