This is a serious question -I'm trying to determine if I'm putting myself at risk by having my face zoned again.
WARNING the following includes TRIGGERS!!!! Has anybody ever been zoned/reflexology done to you? I've had my feet done a couple of times. Seemed to help a little bit. My sister is a real believer, I think there is something to it, but I'm skeptical. Last time I had her do my face. WEIRD and SCARY As she was working on my face, I was suppose to be relaxing, so I mentally went and sat on the beach. I was running my fingers in the sand, feeling the hot sun and refreshing breeze on my face. You got it? Anyway, next thing I know, I'm in my husbands car waiting at the freeway on ramp waiting for the next big truck so that I could have it slam into me. I realized where my brain was and pulled it back to the beach. During the face massage, the switch from the car to the beach happened over and over. Each time I went to the car, I fought my way back to the beach. In the end I did kill myself, I watched the funeral. But I keep trying to go back to the beach. At the end of the session, the gal that did the reflexology and I talked, she said she was amazed at all the anger that she felt as she worked on my face. I told her what had happened in my mind. I thought I was ok. But for the next few days I has flashbacks of previous sexual abuse. Some that I had suppressed sooooooo deep that I didn't know they were there. At the time I was on topomax, which really did a number on me. So I'm trying to figure out was it the reflexology that triggered the memory flooding or the topomax. I have an appointment to go get zoned again. I would rather treat things w/o meds if possible, but I'm scared that if the reflexology triggered the flooding that I may be subjecting myself to pain, I'm not ready for. Looking for others experience. Did you have any negative side effects from face or back zoning????? Posted on 05/05/09, 11:05 am |

As a bodyworker i can relate to the experience of having an emotional release myself while being worked on. As well as having a person experience an emotional release while i'm working on them. One thing to remember is that a bodyworker is not a therapist , and is not trained to help people deal with emotions from their past. And could in fact face legal repercussions for stepping over the line into the therapists role. Thats simply not what they're there to do. So from a massage therapists perspective i hope you can understand why they may not have been able to provide the support you needed.
