" I found this book very helpful too. It had some very good explanations of rape-related PTSD too. "

" This book absolutely turned things around for me.

My only caution is that you need to be at a place within yourself where you are really read to dig in, grab this PTSD by the throat, and do the hard work to conquer it. If your trauma is fresh, or you aren't sure you really want to dig into the healing yet, you may want to start with a milder book like "The PTSD Handbook."

For me, who had been trying on my own to get rid of my symptoms for over twenty years, "The PTSD Handbook" was too bland. "I Can't Get Over It" said exactly what I was feeling, then not only guided me through dealing with each part of PTSD, but told me what to expect along the way. It was right-on the whole way through!

It has lots of one-paragraph experience stories to illustrate different things, which helped me see that traumas come in all forms to all different people, and everyone can heal.

The book is well-written and down to earth, but intense at the same time. I cried nearly every time I used it, but began to notice changes in myself as I went through it. I'm not yet PTSD free, but I haven't had a single flashback since I finished it in September! "
