I have polycythemia & I am also a cyclist, I have cycled all my life racing to a high level.I continue to ride but not race, the rides I do are both aerobic & endurance. What I have found is that I now get virtually no itching or fatigue & I have been able to reduce my hydrea from 7per week to 4 per week, & for the near future at least I have been taken off the venesection clinic. If I stop exercising I start to feel gradually worse again so I am convinced the exercise has a real positive effect. This seems to agree with DR Ruben Mesa's research (based at the Mayo Clinic in the USA).
I have searched the I/Net for another person such as myself with no success so far. Do any of you out there no of anyone else with PRV or other MPD'S that exercises to this level ??
