I know that this is incredibly gross, but I just started taking Metformin to work with my PCOS and hopefully get pregnant again. I have had severe diareah since I started the medicine. Has anyone else had this problem? Does it get better? Is this how it will help me lose my weight?

" Yes, this is very normal. What kind of dose this they start you with? I only ask this cause they need to start with a lower dose and slowly move you to the higher ones. I had major issues when my one dr started me directly at 1500 mg a day (750 2 x a day). I left this dr and went to an RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist) They started me at 500 mg once a day and 2 weeks later up to 1,000.

Unfortunately for me, just the Metformin did not work. I tried to rounds of IUI, one with clomid and one with injections, still no luck.

I am in the middle of IVF now and my blood pregnancy test is Wednesday.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask her or add me as a friend and send a private message. "

" hey! although disgusting, it is totally normal. Like the reply above states...hopefully your doctor started you on a lower dosage and then moved you up. I have been taking Metformin for about two years now. I take 2000mg/day (1000 twice a day). I was slowly moved up to this dosage and it seems to be working. I cycle much more normally and in combination with exercise and watching what I eat I have lost about 50 pounds since I started taking it. When I am not trying to loose weight the Metformin hugely helps maintain my weight. It's a great medicine and I hope it will work wonders for you. Oh, and btw, I hardly ever get diarrhea now! so stick with it!! "

" He started me at 500mg twice a day. I have been feeling better today. I tried to watch the fat content on the food that I ate. I am trying to lose the weight I gained with my first pregnancy (that ended in miscarriage) I am 182 and at 5'6" my dr. says I am obease. I think as long as it works, I can take the side effects. Thank you for all of your support! "
