Hey..i wondered what the symptoms of pcos are? and if mine sound like i could haveit?
Pretty much since i started my periods at 10, theyve been a problem, and its just getting worst My main symptoms are: Irregular periods (regulated with pill) Sore periods. Pianful bowel movements and urination on periods. Stomach upsets near and on period. Hairy back and stomch (not to bad) but ive got black hair. I dont have a hairy face though. Feeling of something ripping and bursting my ovaries inside me on my period, agony! doesnt happen every month, can be bearable. I get spots only on chin, the rest of my face is totaly clear..and no spots on body. My gynae thought i had endo, got checked..not got it. Altough she didnt think a scan would show anything, so never got one. One of my mothers friends has pcos, an she has all the symptoms i get. I have period cramps everyday, not painful though until my period. Ive been checked for infections(stis, water infections, pregnancy etc). i am going to ask my doctor to refer me to the hospital for a scan. Im not sure what pcos is exactly. I heard obesity is one symtpom? Im not ovese, im a littel chubby, but only a size 10-12. Posted on 10/30/09, 05:10 am |

I've got PCOS and have some of the symptoms like Irregular periods, unwanted hair, sometimes pain in my ovaries but not very often, obese but trying to lose weight with Low GI diet although just starting the diet. I would be seeking another gyn if your current one thinks you have something else. If your dr don't want to listen to you or anything then if might be time to change drs. Hope this helps. Good luck.

pcos is one of the easiest things to check for with an ultrasound. you will definitely want to know if your bloodwork points to it as well, though.

Hi there,
I read your post and I felt like I was reading about myself. We really have the same symptoms. And I just wanted to add that I've got PCOS and I don't have weight problems either (if anything, my BMI fluctuates between underweight and normal). I've found it confusing to read articles and books that say the best way to treat PCOS is to lose weight. If that's true, then why am I having so many problems? It was validating to hear that you also haven't had any weight issues. Thanks for sharing :)

my bmi is about 24..my weight can change alot though nearmy period i can put on like 5 pounds then lose it all again, so its just water retention.
ive never had an ultra sound, i was mean to get a smear test, but in th uk u have to be 20, but becos of my problmes they were going to start early with me, but then never did? Im going to try and see my gp today they can refer me for an ultrasound. My gynae isnt even seeing me again, took me 3 months to see her as it is. Ive had bloods taken before when i was really ill with stomach problems, which weirdly all went away when i had the wors period of my life yet! i wanst told anything was found in my blood
